Veterans

It's Veteran's Day. A day to remember all the sacrifices made so that I can live free. My grandparents came to America wanting a better life in 19    They were very wealthy cattle ranchers until Castro came and took it all. They came over with nothing. My grandfather had survived his entire family drowning when he was 15 years old, then built up a successful business, only to have it taken by Fidel. He would survive again. He got his college degree and taught high school spanish for many years. I think I get my love of education from him. When I get down about life, I think of his strength and it makes me keep going. If he can survive, so can I. America is the greatest country in the world and I want to thank all the military people and their families that have sacrificed so we can all be here. We can express our opinions, we can march in the streets and carry signs, we can own property, we can work, and it's all because of the men and women who came before us to pave the way. I am feeling especially humble today because of the great blessings in my life. I get to watch my precious grandbaby over night tonight! It's the first time my daughter has ever left him overnight and she was freaking out a little before she left. OK, yes, I won't forget to buckle him in the carseat, ok, yes, I'll go slow in the car, yes, I'll change his diaper, yes, I'll put him down for his nap, yes, .........  HELLO, I've raised 4 kids, I'm pretty sure he will still be alive and healthy when you get back tomorrow.
